:) Thanks for your comment.

You know, I used to think that yeah, maybe IF I'd done THIS or THAT I could've met "the one", but I'm more inclined to believe that it will happen when it happens -- kind of like you state.

With regard to this particular situation -- I've been living my life mostly by intuition (not "logic") for the past 21 months, and I can't really say it has ever "failed" me. I'd like to think that there would've been "more" there to grasp onto if she was the one... and even if I didn't feel it, then SHE would have... as it does take two to make a relationship work.

I just didn't sense that spark -- and based on her response, I don't think she did either.

Thanks again Sarah.

She could have been the one, then again blind dates rarely work out. After many years of the blind dating game, I'm pretty certain if you're meant to meet someone you'll meet them. So carry on, carry on....

I used to live in Towson, too (and Cockeysville, Columbia, etc... 4.5 years in the area) -- and I worked in Timonium. I know Padonia Station well. :)

As for when I realized I was moving on -- if you read my status page, I mentioned on the 26th that I wasn't feeling particularly tied to the area anymore and was already getting wanderlust...But it sort of "maxed out" once I hit the open road and realized I was looking forward to continuing my journey more than I was looking forward to staying. And although I was looking forward to my date, my mindset was telling me that even if it went well, it probably wasn't going to be that "magical" thing I was hoping for that would make me change all my priorities and stick around Maryland a lot longer... so that wasn't really fair to my date, either.

I don't know -- I've spent so much time listening to my intuition even when it didn't appear to make a lot of sense... this was just another one of those times. I went with my gut.

If I had known you were in Baltimore I could have recommended a few places...I lived in Towson, Sparks & Cockeysville, MD in the late 90's and in Northern VA after that, in Alexandria. Don't remember much about Leesburg though so I'm gonna say you didn't miss much :-) But, in Towson is my favorite bar of all time - "Padonia Station". They have a good restaurant, good drinks & an awesome arcade where you can shoot hoops, play air hockey and a first person shooter game that I loved - Time Police maybe? Good times!

How did it become clear to you that your date was with the open road instead of the chica?

I have struggled with the same thoughts - money vs. food. When I drove from Virginia Beach to Tucson, I loaded up on granola bars and gave handfuls to each person who seemed to need it along the way. I encountered a lot of homeless in
Tennessee, but that was nothing compared to Tucson. I finally realized that it really wasn't about what they chose to do with whatever I gave them - even money; it was much more about what *I* did and how I handled the situation. After all, we can't control what other people do, ever.
